Good Morning Britain viewers were thrilled on Monday to see Susanna Reid and Bill Turnbull back together for breakfast TV.

Reid and Turnbull were previously co-hosts of BBC Breakfast, but since Reid left for ITV in 2014 they have only presented the news together once – in February, when Turnbull stood in for Piers Morgan for one show.

Turnbull, 65, will be behind the Good Morning Britain desk tomorrow and Wednesday, too, and viewers couldn't have been more pleased to see the old breakfast pals back together.

One viewer tweeted: "What a joy to see this Monday morning Bill with the beautiful Susanna, its made my morning watching GMB."

Another person added: "Susanna seems so much more relaxed and happy with Bill Turnbull by her side, great to have him back on tv again, the dream team are reunited!"

Introducing her old colleague to the show, Reid joked about the recent controversy with their old employer over the investigation into Martin Bashir's Panorama interview with Princess Diana.

She said: "It's like being back at the BBC! Although maybe we shouldn't be, controversial subject this morning."

Turnbull laughed along and Reid added: "Just to say, people are loving having you back."

She read out some of the messages of support from viewers and said: "Your whole fan club's come out."

Turnbull said: "Thank you, it's a huge pleasure and honour, particularly to be back with you."

Fans of the show agreed, with one tweeting: "Bill Turnbull on GMTV...is HE the new anchor with Susanna? We can dream can't we."

Someone else wrote: "Love Bill. Please get him to be a regular on GMB with you Susanna."

Another viewer added: "Good to see Bill and Susanna back on our screens. Missed you."

Good Morning Britain has been rotating a series of co-hosts since Piers Morgan's exit in March following a row over his comments about Meghan Markle and her interview with Oprah Winfrey.

Ben Shephard and Adil Ray have taken on most of the co-hosting duties and former Labour spin doctor Alastair Campbell also joined the show for three episodes during Mental Health Awareness Week.

On Monday's show, Reid also told Turnbull that he was looking well – he has been going through treatment for incurable prostate cancer.

He was diagnosed in 2017 with prostate cancer that later spread to his spine, ribs, pelvis, hips and legs, and in 2019 made a Channel 4 documentary about his condition.
