Gorka Marquez has been told to 'remember' by fans as he was seen fighting tears over leaving Gemma Atkinson and their two children. As fans know, the dancer recently spent weeks away from his family to join the Strictly Come Dancing The Professionals live tour.

Gorka, 33, and Gemma, 39, have made no secret of the fact that they spend periods of time apart and the challenges it brings for them both, especially with two children - Mia, four, and 10-month-old Thiago - and regularly share updates on social media.

But as well as online, Gorka's recent time away was also documented in the couple's own reality show. They first appeared in their own show last year ahead of the arrival of their second child. It showed the pair as they opened up their lives and Greater Manchester home to the cameras as they documented their second pregnancy journey and the "absolute utter chaos of our day-to-day lives at home juggling work, dogs, toddlers and hormones."

And following the success of series one, the family were commissioned another run of Gemma and Gorka: Life Behind the Lens for UKTV’s free-to-air entertainment channel W and streaming service UKTV Play. But despite being bumped from three episodes to six.

In episode six, aired on Monday night (June 10), Gorka was seen getting emotional as he spoke about leaving for the tour with a number of his Strictly co-stars. A clip of the moment was then shared on W's social media on Wednesday (June 12) and it heard Gorka saying: "I'm not going to be home for at least five weeks...

"I hate being away. I just feel... not guilty. But you know, sometimes I go, 'Oh, I'm very tired,' and then Gemma is like, 'Well, I've been working [on] the radio, doing other jobs and [looking after] the two kids...' I just feel sorry that I'm not there helping. She's the force of this house. Without her this won't be running."

He continued: "It's also that she understands and supports me. Without her I wouldn't be able to do half of the things that I do. It's going to be hard because I'm going to miss them a lot. It was nice that we went away for a few weeks on holiday but it also makes it harder because I spend the whole day with them and from tomorrow, I'm going to go away and not see them."

Gorka's eyes started to fill with tears as he said: "I don't even want to think about it!" before wiping his eyes. After W shared the clip, fans were quick to respond.

@dianetilleythomas said: "Bless you, remember you are both doing it for a better life for you all. You are both incredible parents." @vickyhart3 wrote: "God love him." @cecebluey commented: "Behind a successful man stands a strong woman!" @nadinejoce added: "Brilliant couple xx amazing family."

It comes after Gemma shared the exact reason she thinks her relationship with Gorka 'works' after previously branding them 'unstoppable'. While discussing her hit Bauer Media podcast, The Overshare with Gemma Atkinson, at The Podcast Show festival in London, the star took the opportunity to get candid about her own personal life.

The former Hollyoaks and Emmerdale actress admitted during a Q&A session that fans are often baffled by how she and Gorka make their family life work, as they often have to spend weeks apart at a time. According to the Express, Gemma confessed: "I get asked a lot about my fella, Gorka - he works away a lot, and people ask - 'How does that work?'

"And I think that’s why it works. It’s either out of sight, out of mind, or absence makes the heart grow fonder! I get asked a lot, ‘how do you do that on your own with the kids?' But it’s all we’ve ever known in our relationship, and I think, 'How do you cope living with them 24/7 and seeing them all the time?' So I think swapping stories shows how each different family makes their circumstances work."
