Popular TV personality Graham Norton is venturing into the film industry with a romantic-comedy movie he co-wrote and produced.

It's been revealed that his firm So Television and production company Tiger Mountain would jointly work on the British-Irish flick. The filming, set to be directed by Bridget Jones handler Dan Mazer, is expected to begin later this year.

An insider shared, "The film has been financed by Sky and will be shot in Ireland in July and August. It has not been an easy road to get to this point, and the team at So, who are learning as they go, have found getting movies made is much harder than they expected."

"But this is a really exciting project and everyone has high hopes for it now the ball is really rolling. Talks are ongoing with some high-profile actors who would really make the script come alive."

The talk show host's move to films comes after his novel, Holding, was adapted into an ITV series in 2022, with Conleth Hill and Siobhan McSweeney leading the cast. While the 61 year old Dublin native didn't produce the series, he did insist on downplaying its "overt" Irishness, reports the Mirror.

At the time, Graham commented, "Whenever I felt it was too Irish, I was going, 'No. You've got Irish actors, you're filming in West Cork. It's Irish enough... we get it'."

After 13 dedicated years as a key feature of many listeners' Saturday mornings, popular broadcaster Graham has stepped down from his role at Virgin Radio, relaying his decision to give his "weekends back" to himself. For his faithful listeners, it was an emotional moment back in March when he announced that he would be taking "one last gallop around the paddock" before hanging up his headphones.
