Graham Norton's new comedy reality series, LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland, has had its release date confirmed in a new trailer.

The series, which will be released on Prime Video on January 19, 2o24, sees a cast of comedians attempting to make each other crack – without laughing themselves.

The selected funny people flexing their comedic muscles are Aisling Bea, Amy Huberman, Catherine Bohart, David McSavage, Deirdre O’Kane, Emma Doran, Jason Byrne, Martin Angolo, Paul Tylak, and Tony Cantwell.

The show's official synopsis reads as follows: "Using his trademark wit, host Graham Norton will oversee the 10 comedic stars, brought together to make each other laugh by using every unpredictable comedic tool in the box … without cracking a smile themselves."

The synopsis also teases the "bonus of some celebrity cameos".

The aim of the game is for one comedian to be the last one to laugh – see what they did there? The first winner of LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland will win €50,000 for their chosen charity.

The first teaser trailer of the series features the cast of the show staring down a camera and trying not to crack. At the end of the trailer, Graham Norton holds up a red card to signify failure by way of laughter.

The comedy show's format has been adapted for locations across the world, but originated in Japan.

The general rules indicate that a yellow card is a caution after a first chuckle from a comedian, while a second yellow card amounts to a red card and elimination. Larger laughs may be given a straight red card.

LOL: Last One Laughing Ireland will launch on Prime Video on January 19, 2024.
