Grammys 2016: Taylor Swift Responds To Kanye West As She Wins Album Of The Year

It was a huge night for Taylor Swift at last night’s Grammys, as she picked up the gongs for Best Video (for ‘Bad Blood’), Best Pop Vocal Album for ‘1989′ and Album of the Year for the second time (this time for her ‘1989′ album).

Huge congratulations, Taylor!

During her acceptance speech for Album of the Year, Taylor took the opportunity to encourage young women to focus on themselves and their work and ignore anyone who tries to undercut their success.

The speech also seemingly served as a response to Kanye West, after he revealed those not-so-great ‘Famous’ lyrics: “I feel like me and Taylor might still have sex. Why? I made that b**ch famous.”

Picking up her Album of the Year award, she said: “I want to thank fans for the last 10 years and the Recording Academy for giving us this unbelievable honour.

“I want to thank all of my collaborators that you see on this stage, mostly I want to thank my co-executive producer Max Martin who has deserved to be up here for 25 years.

“And as the first woman to win Album of the Year at the Grammys twice, I want to say to all the young women out there, there are going to be people along the way who will try to undercut your success or take credit for your accomplishments or your fame.

“But if you just focus on the work and you don’t let those people sidetrack you, someday, when you get where you are going, you will look around and you will know that it was you and the people who love you who put you there. And that will be the greatest feeling in the world. Thank you for this moment.”

Despite the obvious criticism Kanye’s received for those lyrics, he reckons Taylor was a-okay with him going ahead with them, and that she actually gave him her blessing during an hour-long phone conversation.

He also insists that the lyrics are not a ‘diss’.

Congratulations again on your awards, Taylor!
