An 83-year-old gran who tied the knot with an Egyptian toyboy has issued a stark warning about "scammers and con-artists" on dating platforms.

Iris Jones became a media sensation after connecting with Mohamed Ibrahim on Facebook back in June 2019. She didn't hesitate to fly out to Cairo, Egypt, to meet him in person, and they were married by the following year.

Her frank discussion of their private life during a 2021 interview on This Morning left presenters Holly Willoughby and Philip Scofield in fits of laughter, earning Iris a host of admirers.

However, last year saw Iris declare that she and Mohamed had parted ways, as she replaced him with a cat. She called her ex "evil" and akin to a "sewer rat". Iris claimed that she had been paying Mohamed's debts and handing over substantial sums of money to him.

Now residing in Weston-super-Mare, Somerset, Iris is cautioning those using online dating services to stay alert, reports the Mirror.

Taking to Facebook, Iris recently posted her words of caution. She wrote: "A warning to all vulnerable women online, chatting to scammers and con-artists, thinking they are messaging genuine males on legitimate dating sites. Be aware that they are only interested in getting their filthy paws on your money and will sweet-talk you for weeks, or even months in order to achieve their goals."

Iris, who has recently become a self-proclaimed "competent scam hunter" after being targeted by four fraudsters in recent months, asserts that one particularly "evil" scammer attempted to swindle her out of a hefty sum.

She declared: "You picked the wrong woman this time, because I make it my business to expose scammers such as you. I have really enjoyed being the puppet master, having you dance my tune."

Previously, Iris accused her younger ex-lover of pilfering £25,000 following his move into her modest bungalow, which she affectionately calls her "chicken shack". She also claimed to have wired him an additional £14,000 while he was still in Egypt before their nuptials.

Moreover, she contended that Mohamed had pressured her to alter her will to ensure he would inherit her home.

In her statement, she recounted: "The man I married tried his damndest to alienate me from my family in order to make me change my will, but we are a very close family and they have supported me throughout, ever since I became victim to this vile and evil nonentity."
