Great British Bake Off fans can't cope as bakers help each other in biscuit week

After getting the seal of approval from fans and critics alike when it made its debut last week, Channel 4’s The Great British Bake Off has proven itself as the gift that keeps on giving, with viewers praising the bakers during last night’s ‘Biscuit Week’ episode.

Fans were touched to see a group of hopefuls rally together to help Tom with his sandwich biscuits, with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith challenging the contestants to make 24 identical, filled sandwich biscuits in just over two hours.

Tom was in a fluster from the get-go, admitting early on that he was already behind on his Amaretto Kisses and beginning to panic.

As hosts Noel Fielding and Sandi Toksvig announced that there was just one minute left, Tom still hadn’t moved any of his finished biscuits onto the plate – with fellow bakers Steven and Stacey immediately abandoning their own work stations to lend a helping hand.

Reassuring Tom that they will move everything as gently as possible, they also offered words of comfort as they told him not to worry.

James also headed over to Tom’s work station to help move the process along, and Liam checked in to see if there was anything that he could do.

Proving that team work really does make the dream work, Steven was the one to move Tom’s finished biscuits to the edge of Tom’s work station, and viewers found the entire incident heartwarming:

This is far from the first time that the bakers have helped one another over the years, with Tom, Jane and Kate helping eventual winner Candice turn over her brioche roll in last year’s series of the show, however, these acts of kindness usually happen much later in the series when everybody knows each other well.

Considering this is just episode two of Bake Off, meaning that the bakers have only known one another for a couple of weeks, the help was an incredibly warm gesture and proved that too many cooks definitely don’t spoil the broth.
