The second-ever ‘Great British Care Cycle Relay is gearing up to ride across the country in tandem with Care Home Open Week.

The Relay started at Sale in Greater Manchester on Monday June 24. Over the course of five days, riders covered more than 300 miles, ending in West London on Friday June 28.

Care Home Open Week and the Care Cycle Relay are initiatives run by Championing Social Care.

The Great British Care Cycling Relay team called into Alexandra Grange Care Home Wokingham on Thursday June 27, and Wokingham Town Mayor welcomed them.

The work of a carer is no easy feat as they are majorly responsible for the support and well being of elderly people not just in the borough but throughout the country.

Carers deserve all the recognition we can give them, so it is important to support causes such as this one.

Ed Maxfield, Director of Championing Social Care, said: “The Relay is a fun way to highlight the amazing care work that is done across the country. Our theme is Connecting Communities and our aim is to show that care is at the heart of local communities.”
