Great-Grandma Hugs Kids Through Homemade Plastic Divider

A Rockford, Illinois, family recently devised a safer way for their great-grandma to hug her great-grandchildren during the COVID-19 pandemic, creating a hug station out of a window insulator kit, PVC pipe, and duct tape.

Due to the pandemic, the Marinaro family were unable to visit their great-grandma for two months. Local news reported that prior to the outbreak, the family had seen their ‘nana’ every day.

Footage shows the children excitedly waiting for their nana. Upon her arrival, they gather behind the plastic shield, putting their arms through long plastic gloves to receive a hug.

Carly Marinaro, who made the hug device and posted the video, wrote on her Facebook page, “A must watch for a little joy. Nana has been longing to hug her babies!”

Great-grandmother Rose Gagnon told local news, “It just made my day. It warmed my heart.”
