Greater Manchester will be hotter than Ibiza today as temperatures climb to 20C.

After a chilly start to Spring, our region is finally getting some brighter weather and today looks set to be the warmest day yet. According to the Met Office, sunny spells are forecast in Greater Manchester throughout Thursday amid some cloud.

Temperatures will climb to around 20C later this afternoon, making it hotter than the average 18C in Ibiza today. Forecasters predict it will remain warm into the evening in our region with the mercury still being at 18C at around 7pm tonight.

People should make the most of the sunny and warm weather though, as tomorrow looks set to be a rainy day with temperatures dropping to an average of around 14C. After a cloudy start to the morning, heavy rain showers are predicted in the afternoon.

The downpours are expected to persist into the evening. Forecasters said 'there is the potential for some rumbles of thunder and it will feel cooler'.

On the overall forecast for the North West from Saturday to Monday, Met Office forecasters said: "Remaining changeable over the weekend with showers of longer spells of rain at times, mixed in with some sunshine. Feeling warm in any sunshine and light winds."
