On the last night of Milan Fashion Week, fashion's cognoscenti convened for the Green Carpet Fashion Awards, a celebration of sustainable fashion honouring those (in and out of the industry) making fashion a more ethical business.
Staged at the majestic Teatro Alla Scala, the awards ceremony saw celebrities and fashion's elite come out in full support of the cause.
Celebrity guests included Colin Firth, Dylan Sprouse, Jess Glynne, Shailene Woodley and the iconic Sophia Loren.
The supermodel set had ample representation with Alessandra Ambrosio, Amber Valletta, Candice Swanepoel, Elisa Sednaoui, Elsa Hosk and Izabel Goulart attending in full support of Doutzen Kroes who took home the award for Social Media Changemaker. .
Anna Wintour was also in the audience joined by a host of designers, including Gucci's Alessandro Michele, Valentino's Pierpaolo Piccioli, Missoni's Angela Missoni and Zegna's Alessandro Sartori.
Now in its third year, the Green Carpet Fashion Awards is an initiative conceived by Livia Firth and her consultancy Eco-Age. It's produced in collaboration with Camera Nazionale della Moda Italiana (CNMI), the agency responsible for coordinating and promoting the development of Italian fashion.
Sudanese-Australian supermodel Adut Akech and Spanish male supermodel Jon Kortajarena hosted the evening. Akech walked the carpet earlier resplendent in a sustainable Valentino gown made from reclaimed materials and organic silk.
Winning the CNMI Award in recognition of Sustainability was Ermenegildo Zegna, whose commitment to sustainability saw the Italian house make ten looks from their last two shows in 100% sustainable manner. Zegna also dressed Eric Underwood, whose moving ballet performance was a highlight of the shows.
Another highlight was The Groundbreaker Award which was given to Stella McCartney for her pioneering work in the sustainable fashion arena. Earlier in the McCartney arrived on the green carpet with Amber Valletta, Letitia Wright and Shailene Woodley all dressed in the brand. On stage, she brought out 30 members of her team to collect the award with her.
The crescendo moment of the night took place when Sophia Loren took the stage to award the maestro, Valentino Garavani with the evening's final honour, 'The Legacy Award'.
