Greggs has announced that a popular UK delicacy will be available in select branches across the UK as part of a trial run.

The high street bakery is adding the "quintessentially British classic" fish finger sandwiches and wraps to its summer menu across 10 stores. While Scotland is not included in the initial run, there may be a "potential national rollout" in later months.

Foodies will be able to get their hands on the fish finger butty that boasts a lightly battered cod fillet fish, with iceberg lettuce inside a soft-corned top roll with either ketchup or mayo. The butty is set to be priced at £3.90.

Alternatively, the fish finger wrap will also make its way onto the menu for £3.70. The wrap, which also features cod fillet fish, contains mixed leaves, cucumber and mayonnaise in a soft tortilla wrap.

As reported by The Mirror, Greggs will be launching the new items across its menus this week as part of a trial run starting from Thursday, May 23. A further 10 stores will also add the lunch items in June before a potential national rollout in forthcoming months.

Foodies can also purchase the new made to order menu items as part of Greggs' hot sandwich deal where you can purchase a hot sandwich, Southern Fried Potato Wedges or Side Salad, with any cold drink from £4.95.

The bakery recently shared the arrival of the fish finger sandwiches on its Instagram, where it shared a reel of a mobile seaside fish and chip shop. Actor, presenter and comedian Rosie Ramsay featured in the launch and even boasted a Greggs finest catch uniform.
