Yahoo News Gwyneth Paltrow says Brad Pitt threatened Weinstein
Gwyneth Paltrow has described her ex-boyfriend Brad Pitt as "the best" for defending her against Harvey Weinstein.
Paltrow is one of the many women to have levelled accusations of sexual harassment at Hollywood producer Weinstein.
She has previously claimed that Weinstein made unwanted advances towards her when she was 22 years old after signing up for the film Emma. She alleged that Weinstein invited her to his hotel room, where he touched her with his hands and offered a massage.
Appearing on The Howard Stern Show this week, Paltrow shared more details about Pitt's reaction when she told him the story.
"I was blindsided," Paltrow recalled of the encounter. "I told [Pitt] right away and I was very shaken by the whole thing, and I had signed up to do two movies with [Weinstein]."
It apparently prompted Pitt to find Weinstein at the opening of Broadway's Hamlet in 1995 and – according to Paltrow – say something along the lines of: "If you ever make her feel uncomfortable again, I'll kill you."
"It was the equivalent of throwing him against the wall, energetically," Paltrow added. "It was so fantastic because what he did was, he leveraged his fame and power to protect me at a time when I didn't have fame or power yet.
"He's the best."
Weinstein has also faced accusations of misconduct from Rose McGowan, Cara Delevingne, Ashley Judd, Kate Beckinsale, Angelina Jolie, Lea Seydoux and others.
The movie mogul has "unequivocally denied" any allegations of non-consensual sex made against him, admitting only to "impolitic behaviour".
