Yahoo News ‘Hacks’ Scores Season 4 Renewal at Max
Hacks is headed back to the stage at Max.
The streamer has ordered a fourth season of the Emmy-winning comedy starring Jean Smart and Hannah Einbinder. The renewal comes on the day Hacks concludes its nine-episode third season (just under the wire for Emmy eligibility this year).

We couldn’t be happier to give viewers another season with Deborah, Ava, and the rest of the Hacks family.”
Season three took a long road to its premiere earlier this month. “To give you an idea of how long we’ve been working on this season, we started writing it in May 2022 and filming it that November,” Lucia Aniello, who co-created the series with Paul W. Downs and Jen Statsky, told The Hollywood Reporter earlier this month. “We didn’t finish shooting until January 2024,” with delays for Smart’s recovery from a heart procedure and then last year’s writers and actors strikes.
Max says last week’s release of the seventh and eighth episodes of season three gave the series its best single-day viewership to date (though per usual with streamers, there aren’t any numbers publicly available).

We can’t wait to deliver more Hacks to fans around the world.”
In addition to Smart and Einbinder, the season three cast includes regulars Downs, Megan Stalter, Carl Clemons-Hopkins and Kaitlin Olson along with guest stars Jane Adams, J. Smith-Cameron, Helen Hunt, Christina Hendricks, Christopher McDonald, Christopher Lloyd, Tony Goldwyn, Mark Indelicato, Rose Abdoo and Lorenza Izzo.
Aniello, Downs and Statsky serve as showrunners and executive produce with Mike Schur, David Minder and Morgan Sackett.
