Halle Bailey Jokes About Son Halo Having the Same Name as a Beyoncé Track: 'He Has a Theme Song' (Exclusive)

The singer and actress welcomed her first baby with boyfriend DDG in December

Halle Bailey's baby boy may be only a few weeks old, but he already has a signature tune.

The singer and actress, 23, is opening up about whether or not there is a connection between her son Halo's name and the song of the same name from her mentor Beyoncé's 2008 album, I Am... Sasha Fierce.

“He for sure has a theme song," The Little Mermaid star says with a laugh while chatting exclusively with PEOPLE about her partnership with CORE Hydration.

As for how she came up with her newborn's moniker, Bailey says, "It was actually my boyfriend's idea."

“He's the one who came up with his name," she adds, referring to DDG. "We just agreed, and we loved it."

Bailey announced the birth of her first baby on Instagram in December. At the time, she shared a photo of her manicured hand holding a tiny hand and wrist wearing a gold bracelet etched with the name "Halo."

"Even though we’re a few days into the new year, the greatest thing that 2023 could have done for me, was bring me my son.. welcome to the world my halo 🥰👼🏽 ✨the world is desperate to know you 😉🤣♥️," Bailey captioned the sweet post.

Weeks later, in a video posted on his YouTube page, DDG, 26, opened up about his journey into fatherhood for the first time as he called Bailey a "great mom."

"Me and Halle had a baby together. I wouldn't chose no other person in the world to have a child with. We learning. She's a great mom. Like it's crazy. She's amazing," the rapper said in the video.

According to Bailey, her motherhood journey has been unlike anything she's ever faced before.

"It's so exciting, this new role for me," she tells PEOPLE with a wide smile. "I'm obsessed with my baby boy. He's the sweetest angel in the world."

"I've never done this before," adds the "Angel" songstress. "I'm discovering so many different things about myself, so it's like a dream come true."

When asked how she plans to incorporate music into her son's life now and as he grows older, Bailey says, "I think it's really beautiful that I get to be inspired by this new phase of my life and use that as inspiration for more creativity and art and things that we write about."

"And doing this with my sister, it's the best thing in the world," she continues, referring to Chloe Bailey, with whom she makes up the duo Chloe x Halle. "So we get to unlock all these new levels of life together, like being a mom and being an auntie, and it's so cool and it's inspiring. It feeds us."
