Man dresses as Coleen Rooney and Rebekah Vardy scandal with “best Halloween costume of 2019”
By Charlie Duffield
It’s been three weeks since Coleen Rooney accused fellow footballer’s wife Rebekah Vardy of leaking stories from her private Instagram account to the tabloids.
The saga has inspired countless memes, hot takes, a potential new Netflix series and now – in keeping with the season – even Halloween costumes.
Kieran Nuge, 25, from Belfast turned up to Cuckoo Bar’s Thunderdome Halloween event dressed as the very Instagram interface at the centre of the celebrity drama.
Referring to his costume, Kieran told Yahoo Celebrity UK: “I just decided to base it on the scandal because it’s topical.
“Halloween doesn’t have to be scary, and I thought it would be funny because we never got to see the screenshot, so I decided to recreate it.”
He posted it to Twitter with the caption: “it’s..........Rebekah Vardy’s account”, referencing Coleen’s ‘big reveal’ on her tweet.
Kieran crafted the costume in an hour by simply buying a canvas, some paint and printing images.
It cleverly features the Instagram story screenshots Coleen claimed Rebekah had leaked to the press, with Rebekah Vardy’s account as the only viewer.
For those in need of a recap, on Wednesday October 9, Coleen Rooney revealed she had undertaken a cunning 18-month investigative Instagram operation to find out who was leaking fake stories of her to the press.
In probably the most dramatic social media revelation ever, she tweeted the tale of intrigue as a screenshot from her iPhone Notes app, which culminated with her announcing the ‘culprit’ as the Instagram account of Rebekah Vardy, premiership footballer Jamie Vardy's wife.
Rebekah Vardy quickly denied the allegation and said she was launching a ‘forensic’ investigation into the matter.
Kieran said: “I was shocked, but it was such a clever idea by Coleen, and so smart.”

On his Halloween costume he depicted the three fake stories Coleen had posted on her private Instagram account; about her ‘baby gender selection’ in Mexico, her false talks with Strictly Come Dancing producers, and the fake story about her home flooding.
He shared a photo of his creation on Twitter and soon amassed more than 14,000 retweets and over 100,000 likes, at the time of writing.
Kieran said: “The reaction online has been crazy. My phone hasn't stopped going since I posted the picture on Saturday night. I'm honestly so shocked by it all.”
One costume fan commented: “You should be overwhelmingly proud of yourself for this.”
A second added: “Best Halloween costume of 2019.”
But what’s next for #WagathaChristie?
Kieran speculated: “I don't think Coleen would have done this without proof. Obviously we never got to see the screenshot as "evidence" hence why I created the costume as a joke.”
He continued: “I do feel sorry towards Vardy though. But at the end of the day, I really don't know how this whole saga is gonna unfold. Perhaps I could host a Red Table Talk so the two of them could hash it out in the future, who knows!”
