Hamilton Accies confirm goalkeeper contract extension and coaching role

Hamilton Accies have confirmed that goalkeeper Dean Lyness has signed a contract extension, as he joins the backroom team as first-team goalkeeper coach.

The 32-year-old former Airdrie and St Patrick's Athletic shot-stopper joined the club in January of last year, and made 15 appearances, keeping six clean sheets.

Lyness was in goal for the play-off win over Inverness Caledonian Thistle that saw the club return to the Championship.

He will also join the coaching set-up, taking up the role of first-team goalkeeping coach, where he will assist Gordon Marshall.

Hamilton boss John Rankin told the club 's website: "I'm very happy Dean is staying with us, he’s a talented keeper that did very well for us last season.

"He’s another leader with a voice in the dressing room and his experience will be a very beneficial in his new role as well.”
