Hapless Edinburgh driver ditches car in middle of busy road - causing traffic chaos

Edinburgh residents were fuming after a car was abandoned in the middle of a busy road - causing chaos for motorists.

The black Hyundai was pictured on Dalry Road on June 27, causing traffic to back up during rush hour.

One resident said that the car had been there from before 7am - and was still there after 9am.

The bad parking could land the owner of the car a fine. Edinburgh Council states on its website that under the Refuse Disposal Amenity (Scotland) Act 1978 dumping a vehicle is an offence carrying a fine of up to £2,500, three months in prison or both.

The council have the power to claim costs for removing, storing and getting rid of a vehicle from the person who dumped it.
