Harlan Coben Thriller ‘Fool Me Once’ Lands Netflix No. 1 on Streaming Top 10 | Charts

New year, new thriller. Netflix’s latest mystery series “Fool Me Once” has catapulted to the top of the streaming charts according to the Samba TV Weekly Wrap Report for the week of Jan. 1 to Jan. 7.

The eight-part British mystery series adapted from the 2016 Harlan Coben novel already has the internet abuzz. It’s clear Coben’s adaptations continue to be a hit for the streamer, and both his English and foreign-language TV series adaptations pay off in viewership. Black households, in particular, over-indexed compared to the average U.S. household (+4%) based on initial viewership of the series premiere within the first week it hit Netflix.

In second place this week is Denzel Washington’s “The Equalizer 3,” which hit Netflix on Jan. 1 after a successful stint in theaters last fall. Prime Video’s second season of “Reacher” was down from the top spot this week, landing at No. 3, but still demonstrating staying power near the top of the streaming leaderboard.

New to the charts this week is “You Are What You Eat: A Twin Experiment” and “Dave Chappelle: The Dreamer” both airing on Netflix at No. 4 and No. 5, respectively.

Up next is a duo of films from years past that are now streaming on Netflix. In No. 6 is 2018’s “Aquaman.” The original DC film was made available to stream starting on Jan. 1, while the sequel, “Aquaman and the Lost Kingdom,” is currently playing in theaters and may be driving Netflix subscribers to go back and watch the original film. Additionally, Aquaman is available to view on Hulu, Max, Amazon Prime Video, and VOD. At No. 7, the 2021 film “Those Who Wish Me Dead,” directed by Taylor Sheridan and starring Angelina Jolie, is also finding renewed success streaming on both Netflix and Max.

Disney+’s “Percy Jackson and the Olympians” scored another week on the charts, in the No. 8 spot, and Netflix’s “Society of the Snow” landed at No. 9. Prime Video’s “Saltburn” rounded out the top 10 this week.

On broadcast television, the Golden Globe Awards came out on top for CBS as the number one telecast of the week. After dominating the box office, “Barbie” and “Oppenheimer” both took home awards, while “Succession” and “The Bear” scored big for television series.

In second was ABC’s 38th “Rock & Roll Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony” from Brooklyn, New York. Performers included Kate Bush, Sheryl Crow, Missy Elliott, George Michael, Willie Nelson, Rage Against the Machine, The Spinners, and more.

The network also managed to nab a whopping four telecasts of the legendary game show program “Wheel of Fortune” to kick off the new year. In fact, ABC scored eight of the top t10 telecasts this week, which also included “Celebrity Jeopardy!”, “Jeopardy!”, and “America’s Funniest Home Videos.”

Finally, in the 10th spot was the season premiere of NBC’s “America’s Got Talent: Fantasy League,” which drafts teams of returning contestants.
