Harry Kane has won the Golden Boot after matching the record tally by an Englishman at a World Cup with six goals.

The England captain added the prize to his growing list of individual honours after finishing the tournament ahead of Romelu Lukaku, Antonio Griezmann and Kylian Mbappe.

He becomes only the second England player after Gary Lineker in 1986 to win the Golden Boot.

Each of Kane's goals came in the opening four games as he struggled to stamp his mark on the latter stages of the competition.

A brace against Tunisia followed by a hat-trick in the 6-1 thrashing of Panama put the Tottenham striker on course for the individual gong and his penalty in the shootout win over Colombia took the 24-year-old to six goals.

Speaking after Saturday's third-place play-off, Kane said: "It shows we had a good group stage and scored a lot of goals.

"Obviously I'm disappointed I couldn't get a goal in the last few games. Sometimes it goes for you, sometimes it doesn't. But if I win it, it'll be something I'll be very proud of."
