Harry Potter actor to join Newcastle Comic Con for a magical weekend celebration

A Harry Potter actor will be a star guest at a Comic Con in Newcastle which is promising a whole 'geeky extravaganza' full of cosplay fun and free activities.

The event, due to take place at Walker Dome Activity on May 18, will feature Devon Murray - a familiar face to Harry Potter fans, having played cast regular Seamus Finnigan in all eight movies in the franchise from 2000 to 2010. The now 35-year-old will be meeting visitors and signing autographs on the day and there are opportunities for a professional photo-shoot with him too.

There also will be plenty of chances to take free pictures alongside various film and TV set displays at the event - being hosted by family-friendly comic con company Creed Conventions - which will feature the likes of Gremlins, Jaws, Marvel Comics character Groot and a life-size X-wing fighter prop from the Star Wars franchise. There will be free activities on offer throughout the day too.

The Newcastle Comic Con, which is coupled with a Collectors' Fair, is promising something for everyone, with an invitation to fans to immerse themselves in the world of cosplay, saying there will be cosplayers there upon arrival and adding: "Fans attending are invited to dress up as your favourite TV, film or other fictional character and be ready to compete in our cosplay competitions."

The day also will be celebrating all things pop. There will be a traders' area, with stalls selling a variety of merchandise and collectables, and a free retro gaming zone to add to the attractions. Entry will be from 10am on the day and tickets, including fees, are on sale for £10.49; £6.28 children and £27.36 for a family ticket for two adults and two five-11-year-olds. Under-fives have free entry.

A photo shoot with Devon Murray will be £22.08. To book tickets for the Comic Con and those for the photo-shoot see here.
