Harry Potter coming to Northeast; Delmar featured in magazine

Feb. 17—Here are this week's news nuggets, some of which could become page 1 news:

—Northeast will be the first high school to perform "Harry Potter and the Cursed Child" in November, as chosen by Broadway Licensing, according to Kris Doss, theatre director at the school.

—CityScape magazine by the Iowa League of Cities includes the article "Transforming Iowa Towns: The impact of Hometown Price." It focuses on the impact of Keep Iowa Beautiful's Hometown Pride program helped transform the Clinton County city of Delmar, population 542.

—The Clinton YWCA is asking the Clinton County Development Association for an emergency grant because of a failed pool filter.

—Applications to the Clinton County Development Association for its spring grant round are due March 6.

—On Friday, Girl Scout Cookie Booths began to pop up in eastern Iowa and western Illinois. The cost is $6 per box and the flavors are Thin Mints, Samoas, Adventurefuls, Tagalongs, Do-si-dos, Trefoils, Lemon-Ups, Girl Scout S'mores and Toffee-tastics (gluten-free).

—Sen. Charles Grassley, R-Iowa, is beginning his 44th annual 99 county meetings in Bremer County on Tuesday, Feb. 20.

—The next Clinton County Legislative Coffees will be on Saturday, Feb. 24, from 9-10 a.m. at the Camanche City Hall and 11 a.m. to noon at the DeWitt Community Center.
