Heads or Tails? Basketball Team Decides Winner With a Coin Toss

Two basketball teams in Los Angeles, California, found themselves in a tie game after overtime on May 15, and were forced to leave the outcome up to chance.

Steven Chik shared footage on Instagram of the coin toss between the two UCLA intramural teams. Chik told Storyful the game was tied and the teams begged referees for two minutes of overtime, which also ended in a tie.

“They wouldn’t give us another overtime because they had the next game to start,” Chik said. The players then decided on a coin toss, which his team, Nothin’ but Netters, won.

Chick told Storyful that the players on his team actually attend the doctors of physical therapy program at Mount Saint Mary’s University and partner with UCLA’s intramural league. As of writing, the footage has over 7,000 views on Instagram. Credit: Steven Chik via Storyful
