Heartbroken Vicar Whose Wife Ran Off With Robson Green Says He Must Forgive

The devastated vicar whose wife ran off with TV’s Robson Green says he hopes the couple will have a good life together and that he has to forgive his estranged missus.

Reverend Geoffrey Short, below, said after holding a service at his church his faith had been strengthened after wife Zoila, 43, left him to live with the popular actor.

But he added Green was “haunting” him and “taking over” his life.

He told the Daily Mirror: “Now is the time for us all to get on with our lives. I have drawn, from the people at the church, a great deal of healing and peace.

“These people have been absolutely wonderful. I have taken comfort in my faith. I hope Robson Green and Zoila have a good life together.”

Green, 51, below, started the relationship with Zoila when they met at a gym they shared in Newcastle-upon-Tyne.

Filipina Zoila, who has two children with Reverend Short, 57, left the family home six weeks ago after 16 years of marriage, moving into Green’s plush apartment near Morpeth, Northumberland.

Rev Short added yesterday: “People here know all about it. It’s the talk of the community. People are quite hurt.

“The guy’s practically haunting me, taking over my whole life. He’s on Grantchester, Northumberland Tales – it’s horrible.

“When Zoila told me I felt anger, amazement. It’s just total shock, disbelief and sorrow.

“It’s very painful. Of course there is a lot of anger towards Green, but as a Christian, I have to forgive.”

The reverend met his wife, above, 22 years ago when she worked in a hotel and he was working in financial services, travelling frequently to Hong Kong.

Twice-married former Soldier, Soldier actor Green – whose wives were Alison Ogilvie and Vanya Seagar – plays Geordie Keating opposite crime-fighting vicar Sidney Chambers, played by James Norton, in ITV hit Grantchester and presents Tales From Northumberland.
