Yahoo News Heartstopper's Joe Locke to make Broadway debut
Heartstopper star Joe Locke is set to make his Broadway debut in the new year.
The actor, who starred as Charlie Spring in the hit Netflix series, will play the pivotal role of Tobias Ragg in Stephen Sondheim and Hugh Wheeler's hit musical, Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street, as reported by Deadline.
Beginning his run at the Lunt-Fontanne Theatre on Wednesday, January 31, Locke's arrival comes after the departure of Stranger Things star Gaten Matarazzo – who left the role of the young apprentice last month.

Adapted from Christopher Bond's play of the same name, the musical tells the memorable story of the titular Fleet Street barber and his cold-blooded tale of revenge in 1840s London.
"Returning to London after a trumped out prison sentence, the razor-wielding Todd uses his barber shop as a venue for dispatching those who wronged him, and Mrs Lovett devises a way to stuff her pies with some newly available fresh meat," reads the show's official synopsis.
Original cast members Josh Groban and Annaleigh Ashford will be taking their final bows as Sweeney Todd and Mrs Lovett on January 14. Aaron Tveit and Sutton Foster will then star opposite Locke as the fan-favourite characters from February 9. Tickets are on sale now via Ticketmaster — you can purchase them here.

Next year is set to be a busy one for Locke. As well as returning for the highly-anticipated third season of Heartstopper, the actor will be making an appearance in Marvel's WandaVision spin-off, Agatha: Darkhold Diaries.
Speaking to Entertainment Weekly, Locke revealed how the new series starring Kathryn Hahn will resonate with LGBTQ+ fans, saying: "The show is about misunderstood people and people who are alienated by their society for reasons that they can't control. I think that resonates a lot with the queer community. I think there'll be some camp."
Heartstopper seasons 1-2 are streaming on Netflix.
