The heat is on! Britain swelters in 30C 'longest heatwave for 20 years'

Britain is in the middle of what is set to be the longest heatwave in 20 years – and it’s showing no signs of slowing down any time soon.

Temperatures of up to 34C are predicted this week, with the mercury already hitting nearly 32C over the weekend.

The Met Office confirmed we are having a heatwave, saying that “the sun is as powerful as it can be”.

The heat is forecast to keep temperatures in the South and South East some 10C above the usual average for this time of year.
