A passenger landing in Heathrow was 'grossed out' after spotting a mouse whilst waiting for her luggage to arrive. Monica, 50, landed at Terminal 5 at the London airport on Monday, April 22.

As she was waiting for her luggage for a long period due to one of the belts not working she saw a mouse ironically under the hygiene station. Monica told MyLondon: "I was grossed out.

"I came back from Shetland where everything was so clean and it just makes you think when you come back into the city and everything is grimy and gross. The irony is that it was under the hygiene station.

"I think it is very important that you pay attention to the hygiene of a place where millions of people enter and leave." She reported the mouse to ground staff at the airport who seemed to brush off the issue.

Monica added: "They said 'we see them every day, there's nothing we can do about it'. They were very blasé about it. If there are mice in an airport where luggage is, there is a risk they could get on a plane and that could do a lot of damage. If cabin crew detected a mouse on board, the plane would needed to be grounded immediately."

She explained that the terminal seemed like it had not been cleaned. A Heathrow spokesperson said: “We take cleanliness of the airport seriously and will always work alongside airport partners to resolve any reports where the high standards we expect are not being met.”
