Helicopter Flies Near Sea of Flame From Untamed Bushfire at Bora Ridge

An out-of-control bushfire burning in the Northern Rivers district of New South Wales flared up to “emergency” level on November 19, the New South Wales Rural Fire Service (NSW RFS) said.

The blaze, which had been burning for weeks at Myall Creek Road in Bora Ridge, was threatening properties in Bungawalbin, New Italy, The Gap and Whiporie.

Firefighters worked through the night and managed to downgrade the blaze to “watch and act” level where it remained on November 20.

“There has been an increase of fire activity around Whiporie … activate your bush fire survival plan,” NSW RFS said in an update.
