Help needed to breath new life into historic Wiltshire site

Property developer Innox Mills is calling for Trowbridge tradespeople to get involved in helping to redevelop the former Bowyers factory site.

The company says there will be two to three years’ work available for anyone who wishes to join their team working on new and existing buildings.

Innox Mills gained approval last year from Wiltshire Council for 255 new homes, a convenience store, and up to 872 square metres of new commercial floor space.

The site is next to Trowbridge railway station and has been derelict since 2008, when the Bowyer’s factory closed down.

Managing director Jonathan Dean said: “We’re looking for more tradesmen to join the team to help bring some of Trowbridge’s historic buildings back to life.

“There’s plenty of work on offer, so if you’re interested please do get in contact and one of our team members will get back to you.”

He is particularly looking for carpenters, dryliners and plasterers.

They will be working on 7-9 Stallard Street, at Innox Place, and on the historic existing buildings in the masterplan.

Trowbridge Town Council leader Stewart Palmen said: “It would be great to get as many local tradespeople involved as possible.”

STORY: China has dropped some hints about how it could retaliate against EU tariffs on its electric vehicle exports. The Commerce Ministry said Friday it would hold a hearing to examine claims European brandy producers are selling into the country at below market rates. Officials have also referred to another probe into EU pork exports. Analysts say the targets were chosen to pressure Spain and France - which have been among the strongest backers of the new levies. Europe this week imposed import tariffs of up to 37.6% on China-made EVs. That will hit local brands like BYD, but also Chinese-made cars from western firms including Tesla. The tariffs are provisional, while Brussels conducts a probe in Beijing’s support for its carmakers. China has said both sides should stay at the negotiating table for now.
