Henry Cavill has mourned the loss of his impressive moustache after announcing that he has shaved it off for good.

Cavill’s moustache attracted plenty of attention after Warner Brothers used CGI to remove the facial hair during reshoots for Justice League.

The reshoots fell during the filming for Mission: Impossible – Fallout, with Cavill’s character August Walker sporting an impressing tache, and the actor was apparently barred from shaving it off.

However, Cavill revealed on Wednesday that he has finally said goodbye to the moustache for real but paid tribute to his facial friend with a song and clipshow.

In the Instagram video, Cavill stood in a robe in front of a mirror and said solemnly: “Hello, don't be alarmed. It's me, Henry Cavill. Sometime superhero and former secret agent. But now, completely clean-shaven.

“I know, it's hard to recognise me without KingStache. Sometimes I even have trouble recognising myself.

“It's hard for me to admit: this is not CGI. He's really gone. I can tell you this though, I will remember him, always.”

The 34-year-old then shared some treasured photos of him with his well-worn moustache backed to Sarah McLachlan’s I Will Remember You.

Captioning the sad post, Cavill wrote: “Shaved but not forgotten."
