Here's Your First Peek At Gay Rom-Com 'Red, White, & Royal Blue'

Red, White, & Royal Blue, the long-awaited gay rom-com, is finally headed to the small screen this summer via Amazon Prime.

Based on the New York Times bestselling novel of the same name by Casey McQuiston, the story gained popularity in 2019 and fans quickly rallied around it in hopes of a movie adaption. Well, their dreams came true! Kissing Booth star Taylor Zakhar Perez and Cinderella (2021) star Nicholas Galitzine are set to play the leading men alongside side Uma Thurman, Sarah Shahi, Polo Morín, Clifton Collins Jr, Thomas Flynn, Aneesh Sheth, and Ellie Bamber.

"Alex Claremont-Diaz (Taylor Zakhar Perez), the son of the President of the United States (Uma Thurman), and Britain’s Prince Henry (Nicholas Galitzine) have a lot in common: Stunning good looks, undeniable charisma, international popularity … and a total disdain for each other," the official description reads.

"Separated by an ocean, their long-running feud hasn’t really been an issue, until a disastrous—and very public—altercation at a royal event becomes tabloid fodder, driving a potential wedge in U.S./British relations at the worst possible time. Going into damage-control mode, their families and handlers force the two rivals into a staged 'truce.' But as Alex and Henry’s icy relationship unexpectedly begins to thaw into a tentative friendship, the friction that existed between them sparks something deeper than they ever expected."

Prime, the platform where the film will be streaming, just released the first movie poster. Two men's feet cross flirtatiously, one with American flag socks and the other with the British flag, and the tagline reads "Love gets royally complicated."

The film was produced by The Flash and Love, Simon's Greg Berlanti alongside Sarah Schechter. Matthew López, the Tony Award-winning playwright for The Inheritance, is writing and directing the movie, marking his feature film debut.

Red, White, & Royal Blue premieres August 11, 2023 on Prime.
