Neighbours' David Tanaka won't be missing from too many upcoming moments, as actor Takaya Honda has confirmed he'll soon be returning to the soap.

After being hospitalised for a severe eye infection earlier this week, Takaya has since told fans that he is now back home, thanking them for their well-wishes.

In a video shared to Instagram Stories, Takaya revealed he was well and truly on the mend.

"Things should be all good," he said, before confirming his imminent Ramsay Street return.

"I should be back filming on Monday," Takaya confirmed, meaning David's absence is likely to be felt in just a handful of scenes.

Just yesterday (February 20), Takaya shared a photo of his badly-swollen eye, telling fans that he was receiving antibiotics through a drip to fight the infection.

"Just to catch you up, I have a bad eye infection that I likely got from someone at fair day on the weekend that went from bad to worse across 24 hours," he explained.

"I saw the GP yesterday and was given antibiotic tablets and eye drops. Throughout the day my eye got more and more swollen and by this morning my eye had basically closed over."

Fortunately, it looks like Takaya will be back in Erinsborough before we know it, where he has been a mainstay of the soap since 2016.

Neighbours airs weekdays at 1.45pm and 5.30pm on Channel 5 in the UK and ay 6.30pm on 10 Peach in Australia.
