Four 'highly dangerous' Hackney gang members including three brothers and a fourth man have been jailed for a total of 75 years after firing machine guns and pistols and possessing crack cocaine and heroin. Three brothers, Ryan Gordon, 31, Ramela Gordon, 28, both of Lynmouth Road, and Jameal Gordon, 32, of no fixed abode, were jailed at the Old Bailey on Wednesday, April 17.

Ryan and Ramela were each sentenced to 21 years, while Jameal was sentenced to 25 years. A fourth man, Edwin Osei, 26, of Clapton Common was jailed for nine years.

The Gordon brothers were important figures in a Hackney-based gang, with Osei helping them to harm rival gang members. Through a long Metropolitan Police investigation, officers connected the men to several serious firearms offences in Hackney.

On March 14, 2020, the Gordon brothers discharged a number of rounds from the Uzi sub machine gun into a block of flats targeting an opposing gang. One of the bullets injured a member of the public passing by on their way home from work.

Officers used CCTV footage to connect the brothers to another incident where a self-loading pistol was fired in a heavily pedestrianised area of Homerton on May 21, 2020. A few days later, officers examined a block of flats in Lynmouth Road after a warrant was issued.

They seized crack cocaine and heroin hidden away in lift shafts, which had a combined street value of £20,000. They also found the pistol that had been used in the Homerton shooting hidden in a shaft of the lift up to the apartment. All four men were arrested and taken into custody.

Detective Chief Inspector Matthew Webb from the Met’s Specialist Crime who led this investigation said: “These highly dangerous individuals had been heavily involved in gang violence for many years. Thanks to the hard work of my dedicated officers, they are now paying the consequences for their crimes.

“My officers worked long, strenuous hours to deliver robust evidence at court, showing our commitment to making London safe for its residents.

“The violence gang culture breeds eats into our communities’ lives – making daily life feel unsafe and frightening. The individuals that have been jailed showed no care for how their violent actions in public spaces would affect communities and were only concerned about maintaining their drug dealing enterprise and their reputation.

“We are committed to taking violent individuals off the streets, while driving down gang violence across London and restoring trust and confidence of the public in local poling. I hope this serves as a stark warning to those engaging in violence and criminality that our communities and police service will not tolerate this.”
