Hockey Legend Doug Gilmour's Family Organizes Neighborhood Concert During Pandemic

Sonya Gilmour, the wife of Canadian ice hockey legend Doug Gilmour, organized a performance of ‘Sweet Caroline’ by her friend on April 3 to entertain their neighbors in Burlington, Ontario, amid a COVID-19 lockdown.

Video shot by Doug Gilmour shows singer Cameron performing Neil Diamond’s classic from the curb as people watch from a few feet away, observing social distancing guidelines put in place to limit the spread of the virus.

Speaking to Storyful, Gilmour’s marketing manager Jeff Bellamy said Sonya wanted to arrange something that would allow friends and family to get out of the house but in “a safe way,” and asked Cameron if he could perform for the neighborhood.

“Once the singing started, they had neighbors from all over coming outside to see what was happening,” Bellamy said. “They were singing and dancing…everyone had such a great time.” Credit: Doug Gilmour via Storyful
