After stepping in for Ant McPartlin on I’m A Celebrity… Get Me Out of Here! and winning over viewers, many have been left wondering if Holly Willoughby will be returning for a second stint as co-presenter of the ITV reality show.

But it seems those hopes have now been crushed, as Willoughby has confirmed that she won’t be returning to the jungle for 2019.

Speaking at the launch of ITV’s Dancing on Ice, she told The Sun: “This was a one-off, once-in-a-lifetime adventure. I’ll be at home with everyone else having a glass of wine watching it.

“That was the thing I was most jealous of. Here I am standing here while you’re all drinking red wine at home in front of the fire and I’m in the rain in the jungle.”

Hopes that Willoughby would return for another series were heightened when co-host Declan Donnelly gifted her a campmate t-shirt with her name on the back of it.

“The biggest thanks from me is to you, so here’s a jungle T-shirt with your name on it, that’s for next year,” he said.

However, Willoughby has insisted that she was merely filling a space for usual host Ant McPartlin, who took time out presenting to focus on his problems surrounding addiction. He was convicted of drink driving earlier this year following a three car collision.

But it’s now been reported that McPartlin is back to work ahead of a new series of Britain’s Got Talent, which starts filming in January. The presenter is expected to resume his regular duties as co-host of I’m A Celebrity…Get Me Out of Here! next year.
