Yahoo News Hollyoaks' Luke surprises Mandy with Xmas proposal
Hollyoaks has lined up not one but two marriage proposals under the mistletoe for Luke Morgan and Mandy Richardson.
Luke (Gary Lucy) has been chasing Mandy (Sarah Jayne Dunn) since returning to Hollyoaks, with all sorts of drama thwarting a full reconciliation at almost every turn.
In next week's Christmas episodes, there's a reversal of sorts when Mandy gets down on one knee and pops the question to Luke - only to be shockingly turned down because Luke feels he's not good enough for his old flame.
Luke is suitably down in the dumps about his love life until Darren Osborne (Ashley Taylor Dawson) convinces him that it's time for him to finally commit to Mandy after pining for her for all these years.
Inspired by the pep talk, Luke gets down on one knee and is overjoyed when Mandy accepts his marriage proposal, giving the fan-favourite couple the Happily Ever After they've been hoping for.
Except not quite. Mandy still has absolutely no clue that Luke has a wife and son, Scarlett (Susie Amy) and Oliver (Aedan Duckworth), that he's kept secret from her.
Susie Amy was confirmed to be reuniting with her former Footballers' Wives co-star Gary Lucy in October. Hollyoaks has already promised that Amy's arrival as Scarlett would cause trouble for Luke.
We imagine it may be a very unhappy New Year for Luke and Mandy!
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
