Edward Hutchinson has begun openly plotting against Finn O'Connor in Hollyoaks.

The arrival of the missing-Tony's father has caused tremendous tension in the O'Connor household, with Edward (Joe McGann) frequently taunting Finn (Keith Rice) behind Diane's (Alex Fletcher) back.

In Wednesday's (December 4) first-look episode, Finn continued trying to put the right foot forward when Yazz (Haiesha Mistry) helped him get a job delivering Christmas trees — but there was immediate trouble.

His first delivery was supposed to be at the high school, triggering some tremendous anxiety. When he turned up at the school to deliver the tree, Juliet Quinn (Niamh Blackshaw) stole his cap because he couldn't move his van.

Finn instinctively rushed into the school to retrieve the cap, unaware that he'd wandered into the very room where he sexually assaulted John Paul McQueen (James Sutton) all those years ago.

This experience triggered horrific flashbacks to that terrible moment, until a terrified Nancy Hayton (Jessica Fox) spotted him in the room. This also alerted headteacher (and John Paul's parent) Sally St Claire (Annie Wallace).

Sally banished Finn from the school with a warning never to return right in front of Finn's boss. Before the day was out, he'd already lost his new job.

A deflated Finn returned home to a celebration Diane and Edward had arranged for him, though the bad news seemed to give Edward an idea.

He later turned up at the school to tell Sally St Claire that she if ever felt the need to call the police on Finn, she should do so.

"Sounds like you want him gone as much as I do," Sally noted.

Though Edward thought they were speaking privately, he had no idea that Finn's best mate Yazz was actually watching their conversation from afar.
