Hollyoaks' Gary Lucy 'lucky to be alive' after horror Boxing Day car crash

The actor messaged from his hospital bed to assure fans he's OK.

Hollyoaks star Gary Lucy has declared he's 'lucky to be alive' after a horror car crash on Boxing Day.

The 41-year-old actor was rushed to hospital but luckily had no serious injuries after crashing his black Range Rover beyond recognition, completely smashing the front of the car.

Sharing photos on Instagram, Lucy said he was "lucky to be alive" by sharing photos of the devastating car wreck, where both front wheels were pulled off the car.

He wrote on one: "Someone was watching over me today".

His girlfriend, Love Island star Laura Anderson, came to his aid and took him home, updating her Instagram stories from the hospital ward.

He has sustained a nasty injury to his knee, but is otherwise unharmed.

Giggling, both she and Lucy were in good spirits despite the terrifying incident, with Anderson laughing at her Celebs Go Dating co-star on morphine as he hobbled around on crutches.

"Happy Boxing Day," she told the cameras. " We've had a lovely time, how are you feeling on your morphine?"

A light-headed Lucy responded: "Pretty f***ing good to be fair."

"It's not funny sorry, love you," she told him, kissing him on his cheek.

Both Anderson and Lucy declared the actor "Gary Nine Lives" for getting out of the crash so lightly.

Little is known about the incident, with Anderson sharing a timeline that confirmed the incident happened around 10am ton Boxing Day (December 26).

He was in hospital within the hour and after being checked over and his knee strapped up, he was discharged by the end of the day.

He was later seen photographed on Anderson's sofa with her pet dog sitting on his chest as he laid down.

"The exciting life of the Luce. Always keeping me on my toes," she said in another Instagram story.
