Hollyoaks' Gregory Finnegan details nasty shock for James in Marnie's will

Hollyoaks spoilers follow.

Hollyoaks fans recently said goodbye to Marnie Nightingale, but she will herself be saying goodbye in her typically harsh Marnie way when it comes to her will, which is going to cause all sorts of drama.

The events will be part of a downward spiral for James, who is dealing with grief, thoughts of revenge, and about to embark on a gambling storyline.

Speaking to Inside Soap, actor Gregory Finnegan teased what viewers can expect when it comes to Marnie's will.

"James doesn't get what he thinks he's due," the star said. "And everyone else seems to be cashing in, so he's pretty annoyed about that. He just feels as though it's a slap in the face from his mother.

"It's pretty awful [at the vigil]! James is drunk and starts heckling the crowd. He's fairly poorly behaved – this is a real low point for him."

Marnie's death means James is now going to be the head of the family, but Finnegan notes that James probably feels that way anyway, although that still won't make it easy for him.

"I think it's going to be hard for him to shoulder the responsibilities," he said. "We'll have to see if he can step up."

Finnegan called the storyline "fun, but hard work" stating: "This story is the most exciting one I've done for a while, though, and I can't wait to see how it all pans out."

Hollyoaks airs new episodes from Mondays to Fridays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look screenings at 7pm on E4. Selected omnibus episodes are available via Amazon Prime Video.
