Hollyoaks star Sophie Porley has revealed that her character Ellie Nightingale is getting a new love interest – but much to our surprise, it's not Brody Hudson.

Rumours have been circulating that Ellie and Brody could become a couple after spoiler pictures were released showing them flirting up a storm in the upcoming Ibiza episodes.

Next week, Hollyoaks fans will see new character Brody make his big entrance when he catches the eye of Ellie, Holly Cunningham and Neeta Kaur during their holiday on the Spanish party island.

While Ellie and Holly are both slightly apprehensive about romance after their traumatic experiences with Nick Savage, Ellie feels more ready to consider the possibility of a new relationship.

Sophie told Digital Spy: "Ellie is a bit further along in the healing process from the consent story with Nick. Freddie's gone, so I think she's ready for a new boyfriend and to get back out there. She doesn't want what happened to dictate the rest of her life. She wants to be a normal young girl again and she's single.

"We'll see in Ibiza that Ellie is ready there to have a flirt up, but maybe not continue it – it's baby steps and a holiday romance. They don't actually get together but it's a nice step for Ellie."

Asked whether the pair could make things work when Brody later moves to Hollyoaks, Sophie replied: "No, they're not getting together right now. That was news to me, because when I was out there in Ibiza, I didn't know if they were or not. I assumed they would be.

"I actually think Brody might be getting with other characters when we get back. Hopefully not my mum again! And Ellie might be getting with somebody else already in the show."

Former Emmerdale actor Adam Woodward, who's playing Brody, filmed his very first scenes in Ibiza and only met the Hollyoaks cast for the first time when he joined them at the airport to fly out there.

Sophie laughed: "We kept trying to tell him this wasn't normal and not how we film every day back home! This is the best it gets! But Adam fitted in really well. He's so lovely and an absolute sweetheart. I don't know what his first impression of us was – we just talked the whole time!

"Him coming away with a small group was nice, because it's such a big cast but he got to know a small group of us really well first. It's like going to big school for a day before the end of term.

"For Ellie and Holly, our characters have had such an intense storyline. It was nice to get to the end of the arc. We're having fun now as characters. Our stuff was tongue in cheek, upbeat, and that surrounding and setting in Ibiza made that easy to do."

Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
