Yahoo News Hollyoaks reveals Ryan's dark secret over Amy's murder
Hollyoaks exposed Ryan Knight's guilty secret tonight (May 25) as it was revealed he was cheating with newcomer Kyle when his wife Amy Barnes died.
Duncan James had already dropped the spoiler live on This Morning, but Thursday's tense first-look episode saw his character confronted with his huge mistake on screen.
Viewers have been aware that Ryan is harbouring some big secrets regarding Amy's tragic demise, thanks to his strange behaviour and mysterious calls.
And Ryan found himself backed into a corner when Mercedes discovered some very incriminating information in yesterday's visit to Chester, which left her fearing that her new boyfriend was a murderer.
Mercedes found The Loft's missing CCTV footage from the night of Amy's murder in Ryan's jacket pocket, having witnessed his angry confrontation with Harry – who is adamant that the detective is responsible.
The shock discovery understandably prompted Mercedes to cut all ties with Ryan, until Thursday's scenes saw him break down in front of her, finally admitting what had really happened.
Ryan explained to Mercedes that he was sleeping with someone else during Amy's final moments and fears he could have stopped her death if he had stayed faithful.
But after winning over Mercedes with his heartfelt confession, it later became apparent that Ryan's secret lover was in fact Nancy's ex-boyfriend Kyle – leaving fans with a host of new questions over the ongoing plot.
After the pair bumped into each other in the village, Kyle turned tough with Ryan as he insisted he wouldn't be intimidated by him anymore – even turning the tables and dishing out his own threats in regard to their night together.
Whether Kyle can carry on keeping quiet or not remains to be seen, but what will it mean for Ryan if his cheating secret is exposed?
Hollyoaks airs weeknights at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first look screenings at 7pm on E4.
