Hollyoaks star Jessica Fox has paid tribute to Adam Rickitt following his exit announcement.
The Channel 4 soap recently confirmed that Rickitt's character Kyle Kelly will tragically take his own life in upcoming episodes, after losing his battle with depression.
While his death won't be shown on screen, viewers will be shown the aftermath as his friends and family try to come terms with the devastating news.
Fox, who plays Nancy Hayton on the soap, took to her Instagram account on Monday (June 1) to commend both the show and Rickitt's handling of the storyline.
Alongside an image of her and Rickitt, she wrote: "This storyline broke my heart. I am incredibly proud of @hollyoaksofficial for tackling the subject of male depression and suicide.
"It feels more important than ever to keep these conversations going. I am going to miss working with @adamrickitt more than he will ever know. He has handled this storyline so beautifully, sensitively and truthfully and even though Nancy may have been oblivious – Jessica was not."
Hollyoaks airs Mondays and Tuesdays at 6.30pm on Channel 4, with first-look episodes airing on E4 at 7pm.
Wednesdays through Fridays on E4 feature classic episodes called Hollyoaks Favourites to compensate for the soap suspending filming.
