Home and Away star Orpheus Pledger has described how he saved a woman from a brutal attack.

Pledger, 25, helped restrain the man after he saw him launch an attack on a woman in Sydney last year.

According to Australian media the star, who plays Mason Morgan in the Australian soap, couldn’t speak about the drama until the court case against the man concluded.

The man, 28, was reportedly convicted of assault this week.

Describing how his dramatic rescue unfolded, Pledger – who gave evidence in the case- said he saw a “suspicious character” emerge from an alleyway during a walk at night.

He saw the man run up behind the victim and throw her to the ground, telling the BBC: “In that moment my instincts kicked in and I ran up and was screaming, ‘stop stop stop’.

“I pulled him off her and was holding him back physically while yelling out for someone to call the police.”

He said nearby residents had alerted authorities and helped restrain the man until police arrived.
