Horror in Bordesley Green as teenager stabbed in daylight attack 'outside school'

Police are investigating after a schoolboy was seriously hurt in a broad daylight stabbing 'outside a city school'. Emergency services found the teenager with serious injuries in Bordesley Green this afternoon (Friday, May 3).

It's understood the boy was knifed in the arm near to Starbank Secondary School on Hob Moor Road at around 1.10pm. He was given trauma care on scene and en route to hospital - where he remained in a stable condition this evening.

West Midlands Police has yet to make any arrests and has launched a witness appeal, urging anyone who saw the stabbing to get in touch. Initial reports on social media suggested he had been attacked with an axe, however police say there is no mention of that on the log.

A spokesman for the force said: "We were called to Hob Moor Road, Bordesley Green, at around 1.15pm this afternoon (3 May) to reports of a stabbing. On arrival, we found that a teenager had been stabbed in his arm.

"He was taken to hospital where he remains in a stable condition. An investigation is underway to establish the details. If you witnessed the incident or think that you can help, you can contact us via Live Chat on our website, or by calling 101, quoting log 2216 of 3 May."

West Midlands Ambulance Service added: “We were called to reports of a stabbing on Hob Moor Road, Bordesley Green at 1.12pm. One ambulance, two paramedic officers and a MERIT trauma doctor and critical care paramedic attended the scene. Upon arrival we found a teenage boy who was assessed and had sustained serious injuries.

"He received advanced trauma care at the scene which continued en route to hospital where he was conveyed for further treatment.”
