Hotel Guests Run as Deadly Earthquake Shakes Bali Hotel

A 7.0 magnitude earthquake struck the Indonesian island of Lombok on August 5, killing at least 82 people, injuring hundreds, and damaging thousands of home.

The quake was also felt on neighboring Bali where it rattled tourists, residents and caused damage to several buildings including the Ngurah Rai International Airport.

National disaster agency spokesman Sutopo Purwo Nugroho reported the earthquake’s damage was most severe in north Lombok. Indonesian officials evacuated 1,000 domestic and local tourists from the Gili Islands off the north coast of Lombok on Monday.
