‘House of the Dragon’ Dethrones ‘Bridgerton’ on the Streaming Top 10

In the battle between the fictional worlds of a reimagined 1800s British high society and the Game of Thrones universe, dragons have soared to their place on top. One week after the premiere of “House of the Dragon” Season 2 and “Bridgerton” Season 3, Part 2, Max’s “House of the Dragon” dethroned Netflix’s “Bridgerton” to rank as the most-watched show for the week of June 17-23. It was boosted by the second episode’s release on Sunday, June 23.

The staying power or “Bridgerton” has been impressive; it has never left the Top 10 over the past month. Last week, when the final four episodes of “Bridgerton’s” split third season arrived, the title again rose back to the top of the chart for the week of June 10 to June 16. And for the week of June 16-23, the soapy show won the second spot on Samba’s chart.

“Trigger Warning” from Netflix secured the No. 3 spot for the week, with 1.4 million U.S. households watching the new Jessica Alba action thriller during its first three days streaming. The film was a hit among diverse audiences, with Black households over-indexing by 28% and Hispanic households over-indexing by 20% based on viewership during the first three days.

Amazon Prime’s “The Boys” got the No. 4 spot, followed by the action comedy “Hit Man” at No. 5, giving Netflix three of the Top 5 streaming shows this week.

Netflix earned another three spots in the Top 10 by bringing the Showtime series “Your Honor” to its platform, with the show making the Top 10 for the second consecutive week and sitting No. 8. The dating show “Perfect Match” Season 2 came in at No. 9, and the new true crime documentary “Tell Them You Love Me” came in at No. 10.

Disney+ and AppleTV+ each got a spot in the Top 10 this week as well, with the Star Wars show “The Acolyte” Season 1 moving from No. 8 last week to No. 6 this week. David E. Kelly’s legal thriller series “Presumed Innocent,” starring Jake Gyllenhall, made its debut and claimed No. 7, with only a few installments available.

ABC dominated the linear chart with two popular game shows owning the chart: “Wheel of Fortune” and “Jeopardy” got the Top seven spots on linear TV, with Wheel getting No. 1-4 and Jeopardy getting No. 5-7. CBS’s “FBI” won the No. 8 spot. ABC’s “America’s Funniest Home Videos” got No. 9, and CBS’s “Price is Right” came in 10th.
