HSBC customers have been left unable to access their accounts online or via the app today amid a technical issue. Dozens of people have taken to social media to air their frustrations over the incident.

They have reported problems with logging in to their accounts. A spokesperson for HSBC has said that their team are working to fix the fault.

According to DownDetector, more than 6,000 people are reporting issues with their HSBC accounts this morning. And 67 per cent had issues with their mobile banking and 20 per cent with logging into their mobile account, The Sun reports.

The issue began just after 8am this morning (Friday, June 28). Taking to social media, one person said: "It seems to be down no official word from HSBC as of yet but loads of people are having the same problem with this."

A second added: "@HSBC_UK your app service is not working, it states service unavailable and multiple people have reported it."

Another said: "Hi @HSBC_UK is the app working today? I can't access my accounts, says service unavailable! It's oayday so I have bills to pay and I cannot log in!

HSBC wrote on X: "We’re really sorry that some customers are having issues accessing personal online and mobile banking. Our IT teams are working hard to get these services back to normal. You can still authorise online card purchases via SMS."

Customers of First Direct, which is also owned by HSBC, have not complained of any issues.
