Hull City and Blackburn Rovers 'consider' transfer raid for French midfielder

Hull City and Blackburn Rovers are interested in signing Guingamp midfielder Kalidou Sidibe. That is according to a report from Camerounweb, who say that Sidibe could be in line for a move to the Championship this summer.

The 25-year-old joined Guingamp from fellow Ligue 2 side Quevilly-Rouen in August 2023. Sidibe made 31 appearances across all competitions, hitting three goals as the French club finished in ninth position.

Sidibe, whose previous clubs include Toulouse, LB Châteauroux and Quevilly-Rouen, has spent the entirety of his career to date in France. The Frenchman has two years left to run on his current Guingamp contract.

Midfield reinforcements are expected to form part of Tim Walter's summer shopping list as the head coach seeks to turn City into genuine promotion contenders. With Greg Doherty to leave the club at the end of the month when his deal expires and Ozan Tufan is closing in on a move to Turkish side Trabzonspor, the Tigers are in need of additional midfield options.

City have yet to make a signing since Walter's appointment as the German aims to put his own stamp on the squad. Walter, who will officially take charge of the Tigers on July 1, has spoken of his desire to implement an aggressive, high-energy style of play.

"It is very intense, but with a lot of possession," he said. "But possession is nothing when you don't work on and off the ball.

"It is important to have a good mentality off the ball then you can create more on the ball."
