Hull City could have an unlikely say on the future of Liverpool winger Luis Diaz during the summer transfer window.

Diaz has been linked with the likes of Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain in recent weeks, the former searching for greater firepower in this position while the latter are seeking a Kylian Mbappe replacement.

Barcelona are the club whose name keeps cropping up as regards Diaz, who has not himself expressed a desire to leave Liverpool this summer. Should a big-money offer arrive for the Colombian, however, the Reds are likely to weigh up their options before deciding how best to proceed.

Whether or not Barcelona are able to put together a financial offer suitable to complete this deal is another matter, given the Spanish club's struggles in this department in recent years.

A latest report on the club's search for a left winger from Sport has made clear Athletic Bilbao's Nico Williams is the individual who "most seduces" recently-appointed manager Hansi Flick.

The articles adds other names have been discussed, with Diaz's the one that has been "heard the most in recent months". Sporting director Deco is described as being a huge admirer of the ex-Porto star, whose contract at Liverpool is due to expire in 2027.

Where things become interesting relates to a new figure that has now come to the fore for Flick and Deco in the form of Hull's Jaden Philogene. The Englishman enjoyed a strong season in the Championship last season, scoring 12 goals and providing six assists, and has now emerged as a shock loan target for Barcelona.

Williams remains "the priority" for Flick's side, though "more affordable alternatives" such as Philogene are set to be targeted if the club can't make the numbers work for priority options.
