Leeds United's Championship rivals Hull City have sacked manager Liam Rosenior after narrowly missing out on the play-offs.

Rosenior was nomimated for the Championship manager of the year award, but saw his side fail to make the top six after their defeat to Plymouth Argyle last Saturday. He has been in charge at the MKM Stadium for just 18 months.

Hull City were the last side Leeds managed to beat at Elland Road during the regular season, winning 3-1 last month following a goalless away draw back in September. Daniel Farke will be hoping his side are playing in a different division next season, of course, with a play-off semi-final against Norwich City on the horizon.

The Tigers had some heavy investment in the January transfer window, plus secured loan deals with Liverpool's Fabio Carvalho, Luton's Ryan Giles, Noah Ohio of Standard Liege and Anass Zaroury from Burnley, as well as signing players such as Billy Sharp, Ivor Pandur and Abdus Omur on permanent deals.

Our sister title Hull Live report the process of hiring a replacement is well under way, with a desire to make a quick appointment in order to fully prepare for next season and another promotion challenge.

Rosenior took charge in November 2022 with City struggling at the bottom end of the Championship following a poor start to the season under Shota Arveladze. He guided them to safety and a 15th-placed finish last term before this season's rise to seventh. In 78 games in charge, Rosenior won 27, drew 28 and lost 23, averaging 1.4 points per game.
